I'm curious to know what type of Past Performances people use to do their handicapping.

Please vote and then post a more detailed answer.

Thanks for your input.

I voted for the Brisnet PDFs as that is what I have mostly been using since joining E-Ponies. I find the Track Programs to be very much a thing of the "caveman" era now that I've used Brisnet.

What I like about Brisnet is the Running Styles (E, EP, S and P) and the Pace Numbers at certain calls (E1 70, E2 80, LP 79) and Final Speed (69). The Stats on Running Styles are also very helpful.

Finally, the Ultimate PPs give excellent comments (Hot Jockey, May Improve with Lasix, etc.)

This being said I'm considering a switch to the DRF Formulator as it looks like the Moss Pace Figures may give me some of the info I enjoy with Brisnet.

I look forward to the Poll Results and any comments.

Thanks

I voted for OTHER

My "other" are the One Click Pony Cards.
I enjoy creating my own data bases and using the numbers in my own unique way.

I receive the RSS feed and buy the data files from bris to make my own cards here on the eponies site.

i like the brisnet pfds because they rate the horses top to bottom in each class, speed , style of the horse you are thinking about spending some hard earned income {legal or illegal} on ...hot jockeys .trainers ROI...some time the bomb can be found you just have to look....

Bris pfds, oneclick ponies, and when applicable fast track simulcapping. Seems to be a good concencess combo for figuring winners.I first use paper n pen with Bris pfds, then use oneclick and fast track to compare my picks.

When I go to my usually racetrack, I always get the DRF Newspaper. I always do good with DRF. When I do the race of the week, I go with equibase, obviously. If I have to choose one, I'll go with equibase because it is more detailed, but I usually do good using any type of stat sheets.

I use Tea Leaves.....It's how they gonna run today that I want to know....How they ran yesterday or last month dont give me todays winner......:D :D

They dont have PPS for Nutria or Gator races......roaches dont run true to form.....every body knows about the RATT Race!!!

Old school here also. I use the DRF form, a pencil, and paper. I put a lot of stock in jock changes, equipment changes, up or down in class, change in trainers. Well, you get the idea. I pay little or no attention to Beyer numbers. I guess I operate on gut feelings, and a wing and a prayer.

I prefer DRF when I can get my grubby little hands on one but in Georgia there is no DRF, it seems to be considered a Satanic verse or something here in the bible belt. So I use Equibase more then others. (maybe because I can just about get a whole race card for free with a little searching)

I use Bris Ultimate PP's the majority of the time. I first started using them because they are "free for the track you wager on". As I used them more, I like having the pedigree info and PP ratings to assist my handicapping.

The Custom PP generators are nice. Since I have gravitated to playing mainly turf races, I can use this to pick and choose only turf races at a variety of tracks instead of getting an entire card for each track and sifting through everything.

Sometimes I will use DRF PP's solely for the Beyer figs. They are helpful when I do handicap dirt races for multi-race wagers when I play them.

The perfect combo for me would be Bris Ultimate PP's with Beyer figs instead of Bris Speed figs.

And one more note......if I'm going to really attack a card, I need to print out the PP's and mark them up with about 4 different colored pens. I can't look at them on a computer screen. I have to get "old school" to feel really comfortable.

i use DRF when i'm gonna go to the track.
it seems to work for me.

but for the contests... i use whatever DRB sends out.
i have a chart that shows beyers & times based on class.
this chart alone usually points me in the right direction.

Naw I know it sounds crazy but I prefer the newpaper form of DRF. I know, I know, I know it shouldnt matter but the DRF in newspaper form just dosen't seem right if I'm not at the track.

Liam's One Click Pony files have it all. He gets the data from Brisnet and puts it in a more palatable from. The trick is knowing how to use it.

I know where you are coming from. Every now and again, I'll buy a Form at the track just to get the newsprint on my hands. I love it! :D

I use some computer based handicapping programs also, but never alone. Some of the programs can't make you see the race properly. I feel handicapping using PP's, then using other tools, gives me a good feel and complete overview of a race.

I prefer the Brisnet form because it contains more info. The pace figures and the sire/dam stats are a big help for those of us who rely on numbers since we don't know jack about the animals.

There is more left to the imagination in the DRF form, which can be a good thing, it is easier to focus on owner/trainer intentions when you don't have as much information to pore over.

I checked the "Ol DRF "edition for the poll answer. A good friend is trying to wean
me off DRF to the Brisnet banquet of info.
Synthetics will cool and melt the best of bankrolls. No one number(s)can replace the power of Video/Trip/Hanicapping.Amen

I use BRIS Ultimate PPs with Comments if I had to use just one for the track. Otherwise, I use BRIS' Multicaps interpreted through my spreadsheet most of the time. I like BRIS' Insider Picks and PowerPlays to double check my own picks against to see if I might of missed something.

I have been using the DRF since 1957, back then it was called the "Morning Telegraph". Then in the 60's it was known as The Daily Racing Form. Been using it now for 52 years in all. I have used Brisnet but keep going back to DRF. I guess I can't break the habit of using DRF. I don't get rich but it keeps me in the game.

I use Liam's $5/month RSS feeds.

That's a whole bunch of stuff, even more than I use.

I find the best handicapping system is to study the result charts to see what won and how it won, then try to figure out the why from the race entry list.

Duplicating this in live races IS a challenge at times.
