Hi my name is Mike, and I'm really really new to the horse racing scene.
Right now I use "Full Card Report" without success. Anyone else use any other report on the internet, eg. Brisnet, Equibase, etc.?
Any comments, good, bad, indifferent welcome.
Especially looking for comments concerning Full Card Report.
Thanks for reading....Michael....4/20/11.

I have bought FCR reports in the past.
In my opinion there is no faster way to lose your money than using Full Card Reports. Except maybe betting my picks.
FCR has so many different strategies that when one doesn't pick the winner, another one does.
You get the impression that you can win with FCR because you always see the winner listed somewhere. The problem is that you never know which one of FCR's many strategies will pick the winner for the race that you want to bet.
The one thing that I found useful in the FCR reports, is that it was a cheap, fast way to determine which past performances I should buy.
I don't like when a card has lots of 1st time starters. Skimming through FCR reports helped me save money, because I was able to skip buying PPs that I would not be able to use.
It's almost the time of the year when the tracks start carding lots of two year old races & races with many 1st timers, so starting about a month from now & until September I'll buy the FCR reports.
Hi Mike,
I've been happily using FCR for 11 years now. No question there is a TON of info available with all their reports. It's just a matter of knowing how to use that info for how you want to wager, and that doesn't happen overnight.
One of the ways I use FCR (in playing triples) is to compare their top 4 to the Eponies top 4. Anytime they both select the same 4 I will line the picks up, draw line under the 2nd choice, everything above is in the win slot. Draw a line under the 3rd choice, everything above is in the place slot and then use all 4 in the show slot. I then will only play the overlay(s) in the win slot and run the triple thru.
EP and FCR is a deadly combination for sure.
Best of luck to you.

A word of caution Michael - NONE of these sites make money consistently just playing their picks straight up. You have to apply some judgement on top of whatever information they offer. Think about it - if it was that easy they would not be selling the information.

Yes, your absolutely right. And I appreciate the cautionary notes. This game is too hard!!! Too many "variables". But it's FUN!!! Got to build-up my bank roll again. Didn't do too well with the FCR site. I'm finding out the hard way, that longshots don't always come in first.
Thanks again....Michael....4/22/11.

Hi Mike,

Completely agree with this statement from Tom G. He's developed an approach that works for him incorporating EP numbers. I checked out FCR for a couple of months, and it was simply info overload for me. I would have to track what is profitable by angle, by track, by distance etc. over a large sample size and I wasn't ready to commit to that.
FCR's owner started with having a programmer develop a Windows version of John Beaver's YEAST program back in 2005, which only worked in DOS. Beaver developed it back in 1998/1999 and then passed away. Everything I ever read about John was always very positive. Here's an old PA post if anyone is interested from 2005 - poster XFILE is the owner of FCR:
http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21791&page=1&pp=15
I have the old DOS Yeast program and the numbers match up fairly well with FCR. Obviously, FCR has been further developed with all the angles, etc., but the numbers are basically based on Beaver's Yeast program.
Like with any other program or set of numbers, one needs to learn their strengths and test whether a long term profit can be achieved. The approach also has to suit one's style.

New players need to be particularly careful of sites that offer dozens of different angles for each race (shotgun approach). It allows them to come back later and claim success from some of these angles and never own up to the fact that the vast majority of the wagers were unsuccessful.

Hi Mike,
I just came across your post. This is just to let you know. i have been using the FCR's
for about 3 months or so. I have viewed nearly all the videos that i could manage.
On Saturday 09/22, I was at the track (only Saturday I could get away from work.
Belmont's Race 3. Top selection, aValue Odds horse # 3 went off at 8 to 1. i followed the
betting strategy and played $10 win. $2 Exacta #3 with all and $2 Double #3 with all in the next race.
The 8-1 won the race, second horse was 99 to 1. The Exacta Paid $1700. and I also got the win and the double in the next race,. A very good day at the races.
You have to watch the video's and use the bet sttategies.
I have had a reasonably good ROI at the races using the FCR's.
Good Luck.

I have a buddy that's been using FCR for years. He says he does well, I tried it 2 years ago and the end result was terrible, too much data. I recently gave it another shot with the same result. I was ready to give up on it and Viola!, I found an angle that's been working spectacular for me the last 3 weeks.
So far my best result has been on those cheap night tracks that I play for a few hours after work. Monday night I played the last race at beulah Monday night 27th. , using my FCR system I loved the 5 and 10, so I mixed in a couple of long shots with the 5 on top.. The 5 was 10-1. ... 5-8 paid over $900 , I got it for $450. The tri was over 5k for $2. The superfecta was 11,000 for 10 cents
now where I messed up is I used 2 horses in second (5/8,10) , had i played the superfecta with the 8 I had it. Woulda. Shoulda. Coulda. I had no idea that 8 was 99-1. Using FCR the way I do, the 8 was - the 3rd-5th best horse.

Every system has good days and bad days. The trick is to figure out where it is strong and weak.
