I have been a trip handicapper off and on for over 20 years. Early on access to replays was limited but I had good success. I got away from race watching as life got in the way. Over the last couple of years with access to about every race replay in the country I have attempted to make a go of it several times. I began thinking that the increased access to replays has caused trip horses to be over bet and overall success out of reach.

Recently I began focusing only on one circuit – and I have again had good success. I believe that it is possible to make a profit betting horses that experience obvious troubled trips in a prior race. Instead of attempting to watch every race (many of them multiple times) from several different tracks, I believe that I can be more successful knowing everything I can about one circuit.

I think if a group of race watchers grouped together – each focusing on the circuit that they follow every day – the success could multiply. With more trip horses to evaluate – the more selective and more patient the group could be. Also having a group to discuss the horses in their comeback attempts I believe would be very beneficial.

I am looking to put a team of trip handicappers together to share info. Each player would be assigned a circuit to follow every day. The group would receive a message to watch a particular horse in a particular race. Everyone would make their own decision regarding the value of the troubled trip. The person following that track could keep a record of the past performance of the race the horse had the trouble in so that it could be shared so that the group could compare the quality of the field from the troubled race compared to the comeback race.

Let me know if you are interested or know anyone who maybe interested.

As an example of what is possible – take a look at Turfway Park Sept. 10th Race 9. Both Zarch and Southern Bling had trouble out of the gate and came on strong. Zarch came back and again had trouble out of the gate. 2nd time back – Zarch won for fun and paid $18. Southern Bling won the comeback race at 2-1.

I did notice that, and I'm thinking he may be the lonely one........:)

Yes, it is lonely at the top. Here goes - lets see what you guys are made of. I'm posting a horse below- I list the reasons why I like him. I'll give you a shot at doing the same. He might run dead last, but these types win often enough for me to pay the bills. Hope to see your picks soon. ( I assume you'll have to wait until race day to get your program and see the trackman's pick - or your "trainer angle" in the form )

11-30-11 Laurel Park 6th Race : # 3 Hard Drive ( Turf Only)

1. horse is bred for the turf (368) Tomlinson dominates field
2. horse raced 6 days ago, and the replay clearly showed it was for exercise (no abuse)
3. Stretching out + first time turf ( likely looking for turf from day one )
4. Switch to hottest jockey at meet (27%)
5. #7 raced a hard race 4 days ago, and could bounce - and he'll be 3-5.

I'll usually bet this type WP and maybe box with that heavy fav in a per. I also like to use him in the 2nd or 3rd leg of a pic three or double, just in case he's "live" and I don't get anywhere near the 10-1 M.L.

Good luck

I'm not a trip handicapper & I've been very cold lately, but I'll give it a try.

1st. The weather forecast for Tuesday is rain all day and night.
While it should be sunny on Wednesday, the races will probably be taken off the turf.

2nd. #3 Hard Drive's problem is not only his second race which he lost by almost 10 lenghts. He also
showed no interest in his 1st race, checking in last by 19 lenghts.

3rd. If #7 Ur runs, I think that he is better than the rest of the field, even with a slight bounce.

4th. First timer #6 Dominant Male has a jockey/trainer combo that's winning at 44%.

5th. You have a lot of balls signing in with two different monikers in order to direct traffic to your pay site.
Then you come back with this condencending post.

6th. This is my opinion & not the opinion of the onwner of E-Ponies.
You can take your "I'm better than all of you attitude" & go t_, I mean bet your picks instead of trying to sell them.

Well, I am not "Trip Handicapper" - I originally googled the term and it lead me to this forum.

I wasn't challenging you to critique my pick - I thought you might have some input about a different animal.

Sorry if I am confident in myself.

You seemed to have missed the point to why I play these types - he is clearly bred for the turf, so the fact he lost both his first 2 starts on dirt by a mile is exactly what I want, to help the price.

The tommy # suggest he likes the grass and was waiting for this surface + distance , not dirt sprint, so why would I want his dirt lines to look good.

Of course you end up on the #7, just like everyone else (me too). It's what we hope for. But I'll try and beat a trainer whose 1 for 25 at the meet, and a j/t combo that is 0 for 13 at the meet, especially at 4-5 M.L.

Your view of the #6 is good - but I see no edge using the same info as everyone else.

Watching a jockey stiff a horse and a trainer looking for a spot is much less obvious and provides better long term R.O.I. imo.

My ultimate goal is to help in the "us" vs. "them" war - "them" being the public and "us" being whoever is on my team.

I admit to having an ego, and get as much or more satisfaction in sharing my views and being right, than actually betting.

As you know, showing a profit at this game is the hardest thing in the world to do. Handicapping is a full time job, and then having to wager correctly is a second full time job.

I'd rather be expert at one of the two, than be pretty good at both.

I'm sure we'll hook up again - but I'm always looking to learn, and assume you are, too.

Now that we've officially put the kiss of death on my horse - I'm going to pound a #6-7 box, lol.

Good luck.
