I'm the person who wrote the article. My point was that it was wide open. Which it was. People typically expect me to pick someone, which I did.

It was obvious by the time the Classic came around that no horse outside the 8 post had won a race that day, therefore, I elimiated all of them running from outside post 9. It worked. I've been waiting for Drosselmeyer to run a big one. I bet him last time and he fizzled. My feeling were that this time, with Smith on his back, and having won the Belmont in 2010 with him, his chances were as good as any. Anyone betting beforehand could not have forseen how the track was going to play, but I waited till the last minute to place my bet. I also expected a big one out of Shackleford. It turned out to be a profitable bet, as did Caleb's Posse and the Euro's on turf, but there were some downfalls also. It's called horseracing for a reason. I'venever handicapped a track called "gummy and "sticky"..new ones on me. Congrats to all that cashed tickets.
