My name is Liam Durbin. Although I was born in St. Louis, I have lived most of my life in Kentucky. I grew up in Hopkinsville, which is about three hours south of my
recent home, Louisville. Growing up in Hopkinsville, my father and I used to take the two hour trip up to Ellis Park quite often during the summer. I learn to handicap at Ellis Park and have always been a big fan of Kentucky racing. It is pretty amazing that my computer program picks winners more consistently at Ellis than any other track I have tried. I guess I did a good job of making it think like me.
I have since moved to Charlottesville, Virginia but still
have many connections back to Kentucky, particularly in May.
I began handicapping horses when I was about 15. I began handicapping them well when I was about 18. I have done quite well over the years and have come to believe that I know what to look for in the racing form.
I have a masters degree in computer systems management. I have always enjoyed computer programming and my occupation is in Information Technology. The program I designed and use
is called Handicapper Pro and it is on its seventh revision. I wrote the original model for a final project while completing my MBA. Even in its original form, the computer model surpassed even my expectations in its ability to evaluate a horse race.
Even as the program was being written, I was skeptical of
it's ultimate effectiveness. My program has bad days, just like I do without it, but over the long run, it is a solid side kick to have around and look to for "advice."
I have a real job which I like very much and which demands a lot of my time. I find time to run this site because I like it so much. Because it is computer-based, I can manage it in a fairly short amount of time and still find time for my other interests.
I drop in on the forum quite frequently. If my
opinions on horseracing or handicapping or computers
interests you, please join me and all the regulars on the
